Lesedi Shines at the Africa Energy Indaba 2025

Lesedi was proud to be a major sponsor at the Africa Energy Indaba, held from March 4 to 6, 2025, at the Cape Town International Conference Centre. The event brought together industry leaders and experts from across the continent to engage in meaningful discussions and share innovative ideas surrounding Africa’s energy future. Lesedi’s involvement went beyond sponsorship, with key team members actively participating in several high-profile sessions.

Our CEO, Leon van Wyk, took center stage during a session on Climate Resilience, where he provided valuable insights on how the energy sector can adapt and thrive in the face of climate change.
Leon emphasized the importance of strategic planning and innovation to build a resilient energy future for Africa.
“The reality is we are living in climate change; we just need to look at what is happening in Zambia and Zimbabwe with the Lake Kariba running dry, and with poor rainfall, those countries are struggling to meet their energy demands. They are so reliant on hydro energy that without the dam level resurging, they won’t be able to generate electricity, and without electricity, they cannot pump water to communities.”

Greg Nichollas, Corporate Development & Strategy Executive, also contributed to the discussions by joining the Africa Gas Forum panel. His session, The Role of Gas-to-Power and South Africa’s Gas Master Plan in Shaping the Energy Transition, explored the growing significance of gas in the country’s energy mix and its pivotal role in the ongoing energy transition.
Greg’s input highlighted the critical need for sustainable and adaptable solutions in meeting Africa’s energy demands.
In addition to these prominent engagements, Lesedi proudly sponsored the Women in Energy breakfast, an empowering event designed to inspire women in the energy sector. During the gathering, our Human Resources Executive, Natasha Africa, delivered an empowering address encouraging women to recognize their equal abilities in the workforce.
