Every year, on the 18th of July, we celebrate Mandela Day in honour of a great leader, Nelson Mandela. His words have inspired Lesedi’s vision and mission to empower and enrich Africa. This Mandela Day was particularly different due to COVID-19 and the lockdown restrictions. However, with a culture of teamwork, and our employees’ passion to give back to our community, we created study care packs for all the 194 matric learners at Sinenjongo High School in Joe Slovo. This will help them study efficiently as they embark on completing their final year. Due to social distancing precautions (at lockdown level 3) we let the school teachers hand the packs out to the learners themselves. The school Principle was particularly appreciative for our continued support to the school.
Previously we have conducted a career day at the school, as well as donated four digital projectors screens for their labs, to help them move forward in using digital technologies in their lessons. Part of Lesedi’s mission statement is focused on improving the lives of everyone we touch and by empowering the communities where we operate in. One powerful way in which we can change the future, is to invest in the youth of tomorrow – Empowering Africa!
