Quality Focus
Lesedi has a Quality Management System (QMS) that is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001certified by Bureau Veritas, an internationally recognised certification body. This accreditation is primarily concerned with 'Quality Management' and is tailored to meet the stringent requirements of the Nuclear Industry.
The scope of supply includes:
- Project Management
- Engineering Design
- Procurement
- Construction
- Provision of Technical Personnel
- Plant Maintenance
The Quality Management System includes Safety, Health and Environmental Quality (SHEQ) policies which meet the requirements of ISO 14001.
The Lesedi Quality Management System has been audited by AREVA and Eskom and meets the requirements of the following nuclear quality management systems:
- IAEA 50 - C/SG - Q
- NQA 1 '1983
- FRA N/100E (AREVA)
Lesedi has recently achieved a Q1 supplier rating awarded by Eskom. This is a status usually reserved for international OEM's and enables us to perform at the highest rating for nuclear projects.
Achievement of our Q1 status is a symbol of Lesedi's commitment to attain and retain the highest standards of Quality Assurance and a significant illustration of the ability of our QMS to meet and exceed nuclear end user requirements.
Lesedi is also currently pursuing accreditation to OHSA 18001. This will complete the integrated management system, where the emphasis will then be on continuous approval.
The “Management System” refers to the organization's structure for managing its processes - or activities - that transform inputs of resources into a product or service which meet the organization's objectives, such as satisfying the customer's quality requirements, complying to regulations, or meeting environmental objectives.
The ISO 9001:2000 certification will fulfil:
- The customer's quality requirements, and
- Applicable regulatory requirements, while aiming to
- Enhance customer satisfaction, and
- Achieve continual improvement of its performance in pursuit of these objectives
The ISO 14001 certification is primarily concerned with "Environmental Management". Lesedi will aim to:
- Minimize harmful effects on the environment caused by its activities
- Achieve continual improvement of its environmental performance
